Hollyoaks star Zara Morgan Kelly Condron has kept the return of her children’s epic soap a secret
Hollyoaks star Kelly Condron has revealed that she hasn’t even told her own children about her upcoming return to the Channel 4 soap opera.
The 39-year-old actress joined the soap opera as Zara Morgan in 1999 as the younger sister of Luke Morgan (Gary Lucy).
It was announced Monday that Kelly will be reprising the role of troublemaker Zara 16 years after she left in 2005.
Since leaving the soap opera, Kelly has been busy being the mother of her two children, recording voiceovers and coaching young actors at a school in Manchester.
Kelly told the Daily Star before the announcement that she was unable to tell her students about her news on Hollyoaks and that she did not even tell her children.
She said, “My kids don’t even know it. You can’t say something to a 10-year-old and ask him to keep it a secret, it’s just cruel.
“It’s gonna be funny when he finds out. Either he’s gonna think it’s the coolest thing in the world and I’ll be the cool mom for the week or he just won’t be bothered.”
“I’ve coached 14-18 year olds so I’m sure they’ll have something to say when they see that I return to Hollyoaks.”
Viewers can get a first glimpse of Zara’s return in the all-new summer trailer which drops Tuesday at 5 p.m. on all of Hollyoaks’ social media platforms.
Zara returns to the village after hearing about the funeral of her mother, Sue, via a social media post.
The eco-warrior Zara soon falls back into the adorable role of a little sister – from a fierce feud with Luke one minute, to remembering the next.
She’s certainly matured since her college days – but she’s still able to come out with a sharp or sardonic commentary and will call it what she sees it.
Speaking of reprising the role of Zara and the village of Hollyoaks, Kelly said, “When I was first approached by Hollyoaks to bring Zara back, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse.

“I am really delighted to be back in the Iconic Village after such a long time and working with the team playing a part in what is going to be such an important and relevant story.
“It’s really nice to work with the old cast again, like Nick and Steph, and of course Zara’s big brother Gary Lucy, who sometimes feels like my big brother … Even though I’ve been away for so long, this still looks very familiar.
“A lot of the crew are the same, and it’s always very warm and welcoming, it’s like I’ve come back to family.
“Zara comes back as an adult. She’s a passionate environmentalist, but she still has the fiery personality and straightforward nature she always had. She’s back and will make sure everyone in the village knows about it. “
Kelly’s first episode featuring Zara Morgan will air Wednesday August 4 on E4 and again the next day at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 4.
Hollyoaks airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 6:30 p.m., followed by non-E4 first look episodes at 7 p.m.
